The active & outdoor wonders of West Denmark
We call this our 'friluftsliv list': it's an expression of our love for getting active in Danish nature. You don't need to wear lycra to do it - the activities are designed for casual adventurers of all abilities.
Blokarting on Fanø
Fanø, a small island off the coast near Esbjerg, is a place to harness the wind. Blokarting along the beach is just one of the many activities on offer - you can also fly kites, go horseback riding or go cycling.
Seal Safari in the Wadden Sea
The west coast of Denmark is home to a multitude of seals. Take a seal safari to meet them from the Wadden Sea area or further up the coast in Thyboron.
Exploring Thy National Park
Denmark's first national park stretches over 50km down the west coast and is the setting for adventure. Whether you learn to surf or kite surf at Klitmøller Beach, walk a long distance hiking route with Oh So Quiet, saddle up and explore by horse, or simply visit the many small towns and sample their delicacies on a food tour, it's an unmissable stop on your West Denmark journey.
Glass-bottomed kayak trip on the Limfjord
Wherever you are in Denmark, you're always close to the water, and whether you choose to explore it by boat, paddleboard, swimming or kayak, there are plenty of opportunities to go with the flow. The Vision Kayak is just one highly memorable tour, offering tours of the Limfjord, near Viborg, by transparent kayak.
Spa at Hotel Vejlefjord
An active and outdoors itinerary can be overwhelming, which is why we recommend adding a little downtime into the program. At Hotel Vejlefjord, there is a beautiful spa, along with views of the fjord, park and forest, and over 20km of signed footpaths and trails if all that relaxing is too much.
Mountain biking in the Lake District
Silkeborg is at the heart of Denmark's Lake District, and is known for its mountain bike routes through forests and in its dedicated Silkeborg BikePark, a kind of playground for anyone who loves mountain biking. If your clients prefer feet to wheels, there are also hiking trails and horseback riding routes around the lakes and forests nearby.
Bridgewalking in Middelfart
Denmark is the only place in Europe where you can walk on the top of a bridge. At Middlefart, guided tours take you across the Lillebælt Bridge, over 60 meters above the water with spectacular views for a unique experience.
