The historic mounds of the Viking Age ring fortress Trelleborg near Slagelse are set to become neighbour to an archeologically correct reconstruction of the wooden fortress using original methods. The first quarter of the full-scale fortress will open in 2022.
Next to the reconstructed Viking fortress, a new hands-on knowledge and experience centre will allow visitors to experience the Viking Age through state-of-the-art interactive installations.
Trelleborg is believed to have been constructed by King Harald Bluetooth around 980 CE as one of at least four contemporary Viking ring fortresses in Denmark.
