Lovely bike ride through the hilly nature north of Vejle Fjord. Along the way you will pass through varied landscape, the villages Daugård and Ørum, Daugård Beach, and Ørum River Valley.
The beautiful bicycle country around Daugård
The north side of Vejle Fjord offers unique nature. The area around Daugård has a diverse range of nature experiences that can easily be combined on a bike ride. On this 15-kilometre bike ride you can experience some of the best that the area has to offer.
You can choose to start from several locations – for example in Daugård at Ørum-Daugård Multicenter, at Ørum Church, or at the public parking lot at Daugård Beach. It all depends on whether you wish to combine this tour with another route. In this guide we focus on Daugård as the start and finish point of the tour.
In Daugård you can drive southwards on Skolevej and continue southwards towards the fjord and Daugård Beach on Korshøjvej. The landscape here on this stretch is rural and flat, but suddenly you will face an amazing view from the top of one of Denmark’s steepest hills, Askebjerg. From here you have an impressive view of the whole fjord. A steep descend takes you down to the idyllic area Daugårdstrand. Make sure to head down to the Blue Flag beach here, which is one of the best in the local area. There is also a chance to use the restroom or relax at the tables here.
Continue following Strandvejen eastwards. You will now ride uphill and inland following the beautiful Ørum River Valley. There are several places along the way with a great view. In the small village Belle, you will cross the main road and continue north on the forested Sønderskovvej while following the stream. The road will take you to Ørum. If you need to stretch your legs, you can go for a wlk on the 2.3-kilometre-long hiking route Ørum Naturspor. There is a nice picnic area in Ørum on your left hand with good facilities. A little north of Ørum you will make a U-turn and head southwards to Daugård on the street Hestehaven.

National Bicycle Route 5 – The East Coast Route goes through the area and will take you to Juelsminde or Vejle. The great bicycle route of East Jutland, Culture by Bike, also goes to Daugård and takes you to the island Hjarnø – along the coast or further inland from Vejle Fjord to Horsens Fjord.
