The place was previously known as Østerby Hotel og Kro and has many years of history - all of which is now carried forward with style by Thomas and Gitte, both trained chefs with a background at sea and in Vesterø, where they turned Vesterø Deli into a popular eatery at the harbor.

The dedication to excellent service, good food, and a great atmosphere has been brought to Østerby, where the setting now offers a restaurant, café, bar, indoor seating, outdoor seating, and many festive initiatives. And there's also a hotel on the first floor with 6 lovely rooms. Plus, an inn-like setting as well. Never a dull day!

Modvind's pizzas, combined with the unique atmosphere in service and presentation, laid the foundation for their well-deserved success - and this is further strengthened by many other elements in their small establishment.
There are only 11 options on the pizza menu, probably because everything is homemade. At the same time, they uphold a principle of minimal food waste and sustainability, often advertising that there are only 5 left - first come, first served. That's how it goes. If you want to enjoy, you have to make an effort - it's important to be early, although you can also be lucky 2 minutes before closing time.

The good fillings for the pizzas can also easily end up in a durum wrap or a salad bowl, so this is also offered at Modvind - the same high quality and appetizing presentation.

The menu and concept at Modvind are always slightly changing - depending on the sailor's moods or Gitte's ideas.
For a period, there's fish'n'chips, naturally with local white fish, chunky fries, and a twist of mashed peas for dipping. Beef sandwiches in classic or Jutlandic style with everything on them.

Periodically, Modvind comes up with some fun ideas - "Yes-please offers" on a quiet Friday and outdoor seating with barbecue in the backyard on other days. The common thread is that it's all announced on their Facebook page, which currently boasts 1800 followers, making it quite well-positioned.

Modvind also provides takeaway food or can be booked for events - there is space for about 50 people depending on the seating plan. Modvind also caters for events, and just like with their regular dishes, everything is made from scratch with love and often with a creative and culinary twist that showcases the expertise in the kitchen.
