Den Gamle Fiskerhytte in Bagenkop
Galleri og butik med passion for bæredygtighed, smukt luksusgenbrug og lokalt producerede varer og kunst.
Cecilia Vanman is an adventurer and marine mammal biologist with a unique working life that ranges from wild expeditions in the far reaches of the world to creative crafts in the charming coastal town of Bagenkop on Langeland. Her life and work are characterised by a deep love of nature, both in its most extreme form and in the small, local details.
In her shop Den Gamle Fiskerhytte, idyllically located close to Bagenkop Harbour, Cecilia combines her passion for the wild with her connection to the local environment. Here you can experience handmade products inspired by the sea and landscapes of Langeland, including ceramics, jewellery and artwork. Cecilia not only creates unique goods, but also a special atmosphere where visitors can learn about local history.
Cecilia not only has deep roots on Langeland; she is also an internationally recognised adventurer. She has participated in film expeditions in the Arctic, had close encounters with whales and penguin colonies in Antarctica and sailed through storms with waves of up to 16 metres. Cecilia vividly describes what it's like to live and work in a relentless wilderness where cold, ice and wind set the framework. Her experiences have given her a deep understanding of the power and beauty of nature, something she conveys through both her products and her inspiring talks.
Cecilia Vanman has previously been the chairperson of the Women Adventurers Club and is the first Danish woman to be inducted as a Fellow in the prestigious The Explorers Club. On Langeland, she is a local beacon who, with her shop and her lectures - which have been held at Broløkke Manor, among other places - helps to put the island on the world map.
Den Gamle Fiskerhytte is not just a shop, but a creative and cultural meeting place that reflects Cecilia's fascinating travels and deep love for both local and global nature.
