Campsite in Staksrode Forest

In the beautiful Staksrode Forest by Vejle Fjord, you find three nature campsites. This tent site is close to the parking lot and easy to reach. Here, you can camp on top of a cliff with a stunning view of the fjord.

Camp in a tent at a unique location

Staksrode Forest is known for its high, dramatic cliffs with trees falling down towards Stenhøj Beach. In the forest, which is among the most exciting in the region, there are two tent sites and a shelter site – all located on top of the high cliff, giving you a fantastic view.

This tent site is the easiest to reach from the public parking lot at the end of Staksrodevej. From the parking lot, you can walk down towards the coast and follow the red route east above the cliff. After just over 500 meters, the tent site is on your right.

About the tent site

The tent site is quite primitive and free of charge. There is an information board at the entrance to the tent site explaining the rules, etc. There is a fire pit with a grill and a composting toilet, but no other facilities. Bring your own water, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer. It is allowed to collect firewood from the forest floor, but feel free to bring your own if you want to be sure that dry wood is accessible.

First-come, first-served

It is not possible to book the tent site in advance. You just set up your tent where there is space to do so. Dismissing other campers is not allowed, and there is plenty of space to share the facilities.

The other campsites in the forest

Continuing east, you come to perhaps the best-located shelter in East Jutland. The shelter has a composting toilet and a fire pit. Further east, you find another tent site, but this one is reserved for at least 15 people and must be booked in advance.

Through here, you can read more about Staksrode Forest.
