Øster Hurup Harbor

Welcome to Øster Hurup Harbour – known as a true summer paradise for leisure sailors from near and far. All summer long, the harbour is buzzing with life and activities.

On the east coast of Himmerland, you’ll find Øster Hurup Harbour – a lively holiday town with views of the Kattegat Sea. Every summer, yachtsmen and holidaymakers flock to the town to enjoy its relaxed atmosphere and wide range of activities. One of the town’s biggest attractions is its child-friendly sandy beaches with shallow, calm waters – perfect for families with young children.

Øster Hurup Harbour is known for its cosy and intimate atmosphere, where people gather to enjoy summer life. Throughout the summer, the harbour hosts a variety of events, including a weekly flea market every Tuesday where you can find great bargains. On Wednesday evenings, there is community singing at the harbour, and on Fridays, live music on the town square – just a 10-minute walk from the harbour.

Experiences in and around Øster Hurup

The town offers a wide variety of shops, cafés, bars, and restaurants. At the harbour, you’ll find Restaurant Havgus, where you can enjoy anything from a delicious dinner to a cold drink while watching the harbour life go by. In the town centre, Sizzlers Steak House is a great place to take a break – serving the best steaks, burgers, sandwiches, and more.

If you’d like to explore beyond the harbour and town, there are several exciting attractions nearby. Visit the Lille Vildmose Centre – an experience centre with films and exhibitions where you can learn about the area’s natural landscapes and wildlife. Ride the peat train, climb up one of the many observation towers, or try the eagle flight simulator. The centre offers fun and learning for the whole family. Afterward, take a trip into the Lille Vildmose nature reserve itself, where you might be lucky enough to spot elk, red deer, or wild boar.

Head a bit further south and you’ll reach the small villages of Als, Odde, and Helberskov, full of charm with their houses and farms dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. In Helberskov, you can visit “Bjerget” (The Hill), which holds an interesting story from World War II. It was one of the last places in Denmark where German troops surrendered – five days after the rest of the country. Today, Bjerget is a popular destination thanks to its breathtaking views.
